Sofia Villarreal

Sofia Villarreal, 77, of Elizabeth, NJ died peacefully in her home on May 8, 2015 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Callao, Peru, the daughter of Maria Garcia and Juan Dragumanos Mandrich. She came to Elizabeth in 1974 where she settled and raised 5 children. Sofia was a loving mother, dedicated wife and devoted Catholic. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading and walks on the beach but mostly spending time with her family.

Survived by Liliana Mazza (Pellegrino), Maritza Marrone (Enzo), Juan Villarreal, Pablo Villarreal, Federico Villarreal (Birte) and ex-husband Domingo Villarreal. She will always be lovingly remembered by her 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sister Elena Uribe, brother Francisco Sanchez, niece Soledad Mendoza (Guillermo) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 9:30 am at St. Genevieve’s Church in Elizabeth.
