Surendra "Sangi" A. Sangekar

Sangi, as his family and friends knew him, was born on September 4, 1935 in Mumbai, India to the late Anandrao and Anandibai Sangekar.

He received his B.Sc. in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology from the University of Bombay India, M.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Analysis from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Rutgers University Newark, NJ.

Sangi was an accomplished Pharmaceutical Scientist with over 12 patents and 40 years experience. He retired from Schering Plough (Merck) in 2004, as a Senior Principal Scientist.

He loved spending time with his family, friends, and his two cats Inka and Maya. Sangi loved to tell stories of his life especially his time living in New York City. He had a sense of humor that lit up any room.

Sangi, is survived by his loving wife, Janet, of 42 years, as well as his son, Jason, his daughter in law Caroline, and his granddaughter Ava Marie of Springfield, NJ.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 11:00 am at Townley Presbyterian Church, 829 Salem Road, Union, NJ.
