May 20, 1977 - February 20, 2025
Ben was born May 20, 1977 in Redlands, CA, and entered into eternal
rest February 20, 2025, at home, in the loving arms of his mom and dad,
and his brother, Daniel. Upland, CA at the age of 47.
“Not flesh of my flesh, nor bone of my bone…
but miraculously my own.”
That was our Ben!
Ben was ours, as a tiny babe July 19, 1977, a chubby-cheeked little
guy, bursting our hearts with love… forever! In God’s Infinite and Divine
wisdom Ben was our “chosen” little one, and our family began.
Ben’s first few years were in Ontario, CA, then the family moved to the
small mountain community of Wrightwood, CA where Ben lived a happy go-
lucky life as a little kid, riding bikes, hanging out with his pals, snow
skiing, riding ATV’s and playing little league.
After a few years the family moved down the mountain and made their
permanent home in Upland, CA. This is where Ben found his “groove”…
loving life… riding bikes, skateboarding, rollerblades, hockey games in the
street..freckles covered his smiling face…his socks pulled up to his knees,
not the best student, but loved school because he could see his friends.
This is where he developed his kind and humble nature he is known for
today, and still loved by those same childhood friends that mourn him
now. High School brought with it motor vehicles… too many to name but
some of his firsts, a VW Bug.. another was his bright orange and white
Chevy pickup…
Ben married fairly young, bought a little house and settled down in his
hometown of Upland. In a couple years they welcomed their little son
Parker… now a handsome young man of 22. Known now by nicknames
like…Mini Me, or Young Thouvy. The phrase, Like father, like son… was
made for them!
Ben had several jobs as a young man but more permanently as an
irriagation specialist for the city of Monrovia, CA. He developed a great
passion for motorcycles and loved riding his Harley, and acquired a few
tattoos along the way. Ben quietly dealt with health issues early on in his
20’s. Most never knew the struggles he had. Never wanting to bother
people, never talked about it. Just endured it all humbly and quietly.
Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes over 20 yrs ago, the last 5 years were the
greatest challenge. Developing kidney disease, and preparing for kidney
dialysis and most recently developed Cardiomyopathy that lead to heart
failure. He lived his last year at home, and in his quiet, cheerful manner
taught all that knew him how to live life to the fullest! We will miss him so
dearly forever and our lives will never be the same without him. Ben was
raised a Catholic and his faith became very important to him the last few
years of his life bringing comfort and a deeper understanding of what was
really important in life.
Ben is survived by his son, Parker Thouvenell, who was the most loved
and important person in his life, father, Marty Thouvenell, mother, Nancy
Thouvenell, brother, Daniel Thouvenell, two nieces Annaliese and
Madelynn Thouvenell, and two nephews, Zakarey and Preston Thouvenell,
and a very large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins that will
miss him so terrribly.
