Gladys Maxine Barton

Gladys Maxine Barton, 96, of Upland, California, died on Sunday October 2, 2022. Gladys, daughter of Elmer and Gladys Shively, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leonard Casey Barton, her two sisters, and her brother. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa “Terri “Alba, her son, Craig Barton, three grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Gladys worked at the General Electric Flat Iron plant for 27 years before retiring from the company. Following retirement, she gave to her community through her many volunteer positions. She was on the board for the Ontario Museum of Art and History, she was the secretary for the advisory board of Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), and she held the position of secretary for David and Margaret Home auxiliary board. She also volunteered for VNA Hospice and was very active for many years at the First United Methodist Church of Ontario as well as the Riverside District of the United Methodist Women. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, October 29, at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church of Ontario, located on “I” Street and Euclid Ave. She was very proud of her accomplishments, and her family. She will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the American Heart Association or First United Methodist Church of Ontario.
