Harry Bernard Bangert, a father of 10 children, departed to our heavenly Father on August 16,2022: one week shy of his 97th birthday. He loved Christ and family to the core of himself. He was born August 25, 1925, in Bonn Terre, Missouri to George and Effie Bangert. Harry was the youngest of 7 children. Harry worked in the lead mines in Missouri until he enlisted in the US Air Force. He served in Okinawa, Japan 1933. He was an electronic specialist, coding for B52 bombers. At the age of 29, he met Shirley Bieler an Air Force nurse, whom he married 6 months later. They had 10 children together. They purchased a travel trailer and drove to California to begin Harry’s career as an Allstate salesman for 40 years. Upon arriving in California, the couple sold their travel trailer for a house. That was the home Harry raised all 10 children and where he requested to spend his last moments with his family at his side. Harry also had a great interest in real estate and developed a rental portfolio of homes in the area. He was a skilled craftsman fixing up properties with his 5 sons and building furniture for the family home. The preeminent fact about our father: Harry loved his family and Jesus Christ. His most notable character traits were his kindness to others, his work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, sense of adventure, being a listener and sounding board for advice, and most of all his love for cookies and milk. Harry is survived by his children; Mary, Tony, Beth, Michael, Matt, Polly, Ann, Chip, and Vincent; as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Harry is preceded in death by his youngest daughter Lee. Harry, our father, will be greatly missed by his family and all the lives he touched through the warmth in his heart. His philanthropic donations, his volunteer work, financial generosity to the less fortunate; Harry sought to better the lives of everyone he encountered. He leaves a legacy of love and family that will live on forever, in his memory, amongst his children.
