John Albert Pollard, 74, of Rancho Cucamonga, CA passed away February 3, 2025, at home. John was born October 18, 1950, in Pawtucket, RI, the second of two children of Albert and Catherine Pollard. He graduated from Providence College in 1972. John served our country during the Vietnam War era in the United States Air Force in 1972. When he was stationed at George Air Force Base in Adelanto, CA he married his high school sweetheart Claire in 1974. He achieved the rank of Sergeant and was Honorably Discharged from active duty in 1976. John went back to college at California State University San Bernardino and received his teaching credentials in 1977. He spent much of his career as an educator. John and Claire purchased a new home in Rancho Cucamonga in 1978, where they raised their three children. With Claire and his three children he was very active in church, soccer, softball, baseball, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. The family enjoyed going on camping trips. Music was a large part of John’s life, he enjoyed playing with family and friends and performing at venues. John loved the outdoors and was an avid hiker. He had a passion to help people in need and spent over 35 years sponsoring members of the local A.A. fellowship. John is preceded in death by his wife of 36 years Claire and leaves his son Steven (Cindy) of Austin, TX, his son David (Carly) of Queen Creek, AZ, his daughter Katherine of Long Beach, CA, grandchildren Chloe, Shae, Kaycee, Slater, Gianna and Starla, great granddaughter Italia, brother Ed Pollard. A visitation for John will be held Monday, February 24, 2025 from 9:30am to 11:30am at Draper Mortuary Chapel, 811 N Mountain Ave, Ontario, CA 91762, followed by a funeral service from 11:30am to 12:30pm. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park, Ontario, CA.
