Liz, Zakiya,

I am Dixon Andrews from Canby, Oregon.  In November and December of 2025 John and I were partners on our security assignment that led us from Salt Lake City to Texas.  During our trips together Joh and I spent nearly 150 hours sitting together in a car which gave us plenty to talk about everything and I mean everything.  First and foremost John repeatedly professed his love for his family and his joy of the outdoors.  He could talk about any subject intelligently and comfortably.  I am stunned to hear the news of his passing.  John was my newest best friend and I am going to miss him very much.  My heart aches!  My thoughts and love to you.

From the first time I met John over 45 yrs ago I knew this was my brother from another mother. 
We met at a difficult time in my life and in so many ways John’s friendship carried me thru it.
I loved this man and will miss him every day of my life

My sincere condolences to Liz, Zakiya and Linda.  Wishing you spiritual comfort and peace to offset your loss.  Though John's politics were at times strange, I marveled at his capacity to stick to HIS beliefs.  Keep that character trait in hand as you navigate the days ahead.

Sincere condolences to the Sharpe family.  I had the pleasure of staying with cousins Liz, John & Zakiya when I first moved to California many years ago.  I recall feeling really welcomed by the family,  including John, who opened his home to me, even as a distant cousin on his wife's side of the family. He brought me in and treated me just like another "daughter", and I really appreciated he and the rest of the family's hospitality during this period of transition as a young adult. Thank you cousin John for sharing your healthy snacks, heart and home.  Rest in peace. Love & comfort to my SoCal family (Liz & Zak).

Liz and Zak,
I love you all and I loved John. I always told my wife John is the Black Mans Paul Bunion.  I admired his spirit of adventure, and I will never forget seeing Liz and John at the Ralph’s grocery store, when I arrived in Upland and they had no clue that I was there working from NC.  I share that story all the time. I’m so sorry that the world is now without a man like John. I will never forget that brother, the Black Man’s Paul Bunion.  RIP John!

John was my best buddy since the days we trained to scubadive
together. we grew up close to each other in new york.
he was incredibly helpful and insightful about so many things.
how he could be practical and impractical at the same time, i'll never know. he had a great laugh, was very curious. always handsome in a suit. he cast a long shadow.
