

He was born July 18, 1940, in Portland Oregon, then moved to Fairbanks Alaska where he spent his first five years. After moving to Susanville, California as a young boy he attended grade school and high school while living on the family ranch. He then graduated with his Bachelor’s degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1964 and completed his Master’s degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1966. He spent his career at the California Department of Corrections as a Supervisor of Recreation and retired in 1990. Upon retirement he was the Physical Education Teacher, Dean of Discipline and coached sport teams at St. Mark’s Episcopal School. He served on two school boards and numerous committees. He was an active member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church for 53 years.
He enjoyed spending his time listening to Jazz and Big Band music, watching any and all sporting events, especially supporting women’s college sports. He had a large interest in political history and was an avid reader of fiction and non-fiction. Many time he would be engaging in all of this at the same time.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Barbara “Bobbi” Arjo, Daughter, Alyson and Son-in-law Marc Escallier, Grandchildren: Grayson, Melissa, Camden and Janelle, Special Care Giver, Gloria Gonzales, Sister, Annarae Luevano (Coree). He was preceded in death by his daughter Jennifer Arjo-Glover.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday July 19th at 2:00 PM at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Upland.
