Richard Trinidad De La Mora was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed being active and working outside in his yard where he kept his hummingbird feeders full and his pool clean. Richard passed away in his home surrounded by family on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.
Richard De La Mora was born in Los Angeles, California to Trinidad and Luz De La Mora on December 20, 1938. He was one of four children. His deceased older brother Henry and younger sister Irene and his surviving younger sister Suzie remained very close into adulthood.
In 1956 Richard joined the United States Marine Corp. Richard was proud of his service to our country and always looked back on those years fondly while taking every opportunity to talk with a fellow Marine. Richard worked in sales after leaving the Marine Corp. He was employed with Sparkletts Water Company for 35 years before he retired in 1994. Richard was always interested in cars and found a way to put his interest to work while selling cars after he retired from Sparkletts.
Richard fell in love and married Virginia Gerardo on June 22, 1957. In doing so he gained an additional brother and a lifelong bond in his new brother-in-law, Gilbert. Richard and Virginia experienced a lifetime together in their 67 years of marriage before he passed. In 1971, Richard and his wife moved their five children to Alta Loma where he raised his family and where his surviving wife Virginia continues to reside. Richard established himself in the community as a friendly and kind neighbor who enjoyed getting to know people and making connections. Through his son, Richard was involved in the Alta Loma Little League throughout the seventies. This last May, Richard was recognized by the Alta Loma Little League during their 50th Anniversary and was honored to be asked to throw out the first pitch before his grandson’s baseball game. This was a cherished moment.
Richard was a lover of animals. He always had a dog by his side and welcomed his children’s dogs into his home where he spoiled them with treats and attention. The dogs loved Richard as much as he loved them. His dog, Sammy, showed his loyalty and love to the end where he never left Richard’s side.
Richard was known as Dad, Daddy, and Pops by his five children, Richard, Debbie, Steven, Tricia and Nicole. He welcomed into the family and loved his sons-in-law Dick, Carlos and Joe and daughters-in-law Allison and Shannon. He was a loving, joke telling, and dancing Grandpa to his grandchildren: Eric, Lauren and her wife Anna, Emily and her husband Alex, Bella, Christopher, Sean, Joey, Carly, Timothy and Alexandra.
He was loved dearly and will be missed greatly by his family and all who knew him.
Services will be held at St. Peter and St. Paul Parish in Rancho Cucamonga on July 19 at 11:00.
We request that attire be colorful to celebrate Richard’s vibrant life.
