"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth".
Ruth was the third of four children, born to Reverend Davis Christopher and Beatrice Carter. She was raised in a Christian home and attended Sunday school and church regularly. She attended Nevin Avenue Elementary School, Lafayette Junior High School, Jefferson High School, Southwest College, and Cal State Dominguez University.
She married Herbert S. Daniels in 1956 and to this union three children were born, Gregory S., Valerie D., and Robin L. Daniels.
She was a member of Phillips Temple C.M.E Church, Walker Temple A.M.E. Church. She accepted Christ and in 1979 she united with Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member until God called her home.
She devoted 30 years working for the City of Los Angeles before retiring in 1993. Her time with the city produced many loving friendships, friendships she still maintained even after entering the world of retirement.
Her mother and father, Reverend Davis Christopher and Beatrice Carter, sisters Barbara Griffin and Doris Wright, brother-in-law Paul Moon and sister-in-law Artie Brown preceded her in death.
She leaves to mourn her passing, husband Herbert Daniels, 3 children-Gregory, Valerie and Robin Daniels, 1 daughter-in-law Christy Daniels, 2 stepchildren-Muriel Daniels and Elsie McGee, 1 step son-in-law Paul McGee, 3 grandchildren-Gregory, Jasmine and Jesse Daniels, 9 step grandchildren-Michael Grimble, Tyrone McPeters, Tremaine Burns, Eryka Marchel, Kyra and Christopher Fair, Tyrone, Troy, and Terrell McGee, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 sister-Mattie Moon, many nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
My wife, our mom was an amazing woman who so many knew in so many different ways. Her passing was a shock, but we are relishing and honoring her memory and have found peace in knowing that without a doubt my wife, our mom went straight to HEAVEN and she is watching over us. She was fierce, smart, kind, strong, gentle, and filled with nothing you expect but everything you would want and hope for. The love that surrounds her is a testament to how loved she is/was. While this time is for grieving, we would also like this time to be a time to realize how blessed we were to have had her in our lives and in this life for 85 wonderful years. When mom turned 80, she mentioned that the Bible, Psalm 90:10, mentions the days of our lives are threescore and ten and that she was still here by Grace at the age of 80. She realized this blessing and she did not take it lightly and she did not fail to give thanks to our LORD for allowing her to see the age of 80. That in itself was a testament and a blessing for her and for all of us, by GOD's GRACE she lived to see 85.
Our love for Ruth Daniels, my wife, our mom will carry us and sustain us until we unite with her again.
I would rather have a little rose from the garden of a friend than have the choicest flowers when my stay on earth shall end.
I would rather have the kindest words and a smile that I can see, then the flattery when my heart is still, from the friends I know are true, then tears shed around my casket when the world I bid ADIEU.
