

Sal was born to Anthony and Rosa Ada Briguglio on August 19, 1952, in Jersey City, New Jersey. He is survived by Julie, his wife of 30 years, his three children, and four grandchildren: Nicole Caldera and her children, Gianna and Grant of Fontana; David, his wife Amber, and their girls Emily and AdaLynne of Steep Falls, Maine; Kristopher Lavoie of Rancho Cucamonga; and his brother James of Palm Springs. He is preceded in death by his parents Ada and Anthony Briguglio.
Sal attended parochial school #34 and was senior class president of St. Michael’s High School, both in Jersey City. Sal graduated from Rutgers University of New Jersey in 1974. He then moved to Southern California where he earned his Juris Doctor from University of San Fernando Valley College of Law in 1977. After graduation, Sal settled in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, where he resided until his passing.
As a trial attorney, Sal appeared in courtrooms throughout the counties of San Bernardino, Riverside, and Los Angeles. He also ruled on Family Law and Juvenile matters as Judge Pro Tempore. Sal was elected as President of The Western San Bernardino County Bar Association in 1991, demonstrating the high ideals of public leadership and community service, participating in the association’s Lawyer Referral Service and West End Legal Aid Clinic. Sal also was a member of, and served as Legal Counsel, for the Rancho Cucamonga Chamber of Commerce.
One of Sal’s greatest passions was helping others. He joined the Rotary Club of Rancho Cucamonga in 1989. He served as Club President in 1995-1996 and served on the Membership Development Committee and Chairperson of Vocational Services. He served as District Governor for Rotary District 5300 2000-2001. Sal was recognized for his contributions to the community including the D.A.R.E. program, House of Ruth, All City Track Meet, and Health Immunization Clinic.
Sal was the recipient of numerous proclamations from the Mayor and City Council of Rancho Cucamonga, County Board of Supervisors, State Senate and Assembly, U.S Congress, and Mayor of San Felipe, Mexico. In his retirement years, Sal worked as a hearing officer for the San Bernardino County Assessors Board.
Sal was an avid hunter in several states of the U.S. and ventured as far as Canada and Africa. He loved vacationing with his family in Mammoth, the Colorado River, and Lake Havasu, AZ, as well as traveling the world. Sal will be deeply missed by all of those who knew and loved him. It is said that in the end; the entirety of our lives is represented by the dash between the day we were born and the day we die. For Sal, the dash was filled to the brim with adventure, laughter, love, and generosity in the times he spent with his family and friends - a dash well lived. Indeed!
The family will receive friends for a viewing beginning at 5:00pm on June 3, 2025, followed by a Rosary at 6:30pm at Stone Funeral Home in Upland, CA. 91786. A mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on June 4, 2025, at St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic Church in Alta Loma, CA 91701. Mass will be followed by a reception.
