Shan-Hsiang Hsieh

Shan-Hsiang was born to Hung-Nien Hsieh and Ju-E Lee. He followed in the footsteps of his siblings and moved to North America in his 20s - there he studied computer science. He spent his career working in the technology field until his retirement, a path he was proud of and dedicated to.

Shan-Hsiang was a devoted husband, caring father, loving grandfather, kind uncle and generous brother. He found joy in listening to country music, watching basketball (though enjoyed all kinds of sports) and being an adventurous eater. He loved driving around buying all sorts of knickknacks, and staying deeply connected to his Chinese heritage while also being a proud citizen of both Canada and the U.S.

At the nursing center, in front of his bed, was a poster he asked me to bring from home. It was a gift from his youngest sister and it read “Always be joyful, always pray and always be grateful.” We will continue to honor those words in his memory.

He is predeceased by his parents; brother Shan-Yuan (1935-2024); sister Wen Chen (1944-2023); his brother Shan-Tao (1951-2021); and his sister Shou-Chen (1949-2017). He is survived by his beloved wife Jane La Shu; his daughter, Catherine Hsieh; son-in-law, Paul Hyde; and his two cherished grandchildren, Millie and Benjamin.

We love him deeply and will miss him everyday.

謝善相出生於上海， 2岁随父母兄姐去台湾。二十多歲時，他追隨兄姊的腳步，前往北美攻讀電腦科學，並在科技領域奉獻一生，直至退休。這是一條他始終引以為傲、全心投入的道路。

對我們而言，善相是一位摯愛的丈夫、慈愛的父親、疼愛孫兒的外公，也是慷慨的兄長。他喜歡聽鄉村音樂、看籃球（其實各類運動他都樂在其中），熱愛嘗試各種美食，也喜歡開車四處走走，順道買些小擺飾。他深深珍惜自己的中華文化根源，同時也是加拿大與美國的驕傲公民。而他生命中最深的愛，始終是他的家人。

在他居住的護理之家裡，他的床前放著一張他特地請我從家中帶來的海報，那是他最小的妹妹送給他的。上面寫著：「要常常喜樂、不住地禱告、凡事感恩。」這些話對他意義深遠，我們也將每天以此來紀念他、傳承他的精神。

他留下摯愛的妻子 Jane、女兒 Catherine、女婿 Paul，以及兩位心愛的外孫子女米莉（Millie)、傑明（Benjamin）。

我們深深愛著他，並將在每一天的思念中懷念他。
