Maerose Elizabeth Burke Morris

Maerose Elizabeth Morris, 82, of Morganton, died Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Grace Heights Nursing Home in Morganton. Born on February 18, 1930 in Herkimer County, NY, she was the daughter of the late Nick Burke and Lois Burke. Mrs. Morris was a member of the Women of the Moose for 41 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Albert James Mathews. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, James Morris; son, Albert Mathews, Jr. and his wife, Melissa of Morganton; daughter, Karen M. Vella and her husband, Wayne Vella, Sr. of Morganton; grandchildren, Raeanne Buchanan, Sherry Watson, Gary Vella, Wayne Vella, Jr. and Jayson Morgan; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Kara, Justin, Kolby, Michael, Grace and Andrew; sisters, Bonnie Burke of Baton Rouge, LA, Teresa Booth of Oakville, Ontario, Canada and Angela Boucher of Quebec, Ontario, Canada; and brothers, Barry Burke of Baton Rouge, LA, Riley Burke of Gulf Breeze, FL and Phillip Boucher of Quebec, Ontario, Canada.

A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.
