

Burl Butler, 91, of Alma, passed away Friday, February 19, 2016 in Van Buren. He was born March 25, 1924 in Crawford County to the late W.C. and Gretchen Butler. He was a truck driver, and served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Robbie; a daughter, Donna Green; three brothers, John, Leon, and Gayle Butler; and two sisters, Edith Montgomery and Mary Jane Bromley.
He is survived by his wife, Velma of the home; five daughters, Shelia Waldrop of Little Rock, Brenda Klebanoff of Fayetteville, Kathy Nelson of Barling, Kristie Moore and Barry of Alma, and Rhonda Beals of Van Buren; six sons, Bill Newton of Ringgold, GA, Roy Newton of Chattanooga, TN, Donald Edgar of Altus, Allen Edgar of Van Buren, Chris Edgar and Ronnie Edgar both of Little Rock; two sisters, Betty Cook of El Monte, CA, and Pat Law of Lawrence, KS; several grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Gill Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Barry Moore, David Carr, Marty Waldrop, Kelly Ward, Steven Gilmore, and Jimmy Moore.
The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2016 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren.
