

Rev. Delbert Hodges, Sr., 81, of Rudy, passed away Monday, February 19, 2018 in Fort Smith. He was born July 11, 1936 in Fort Smith. He attended Hwy 71 Freewill Baptist Church, and preached all over Arkansas and Oklahoma. He was an avid hunter, a member of the National Guard, and a Scout Master for Lavaca Troop 58. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene Hodges and Opal Riggs; by his first wife, Grace Hodges; a sister, Deborah Fister; and a great-grandson, Maddyn Teague.
He is survived by his wife, Naoma Hodges of the home; a daughter, DeLaina McGee and husband David of Lavaca; three sons, David Hodges and wife Sheila of Lavaca, Delbert Hodges, Jr. and wife Becky of Greenwood, and Tim Riggs and wife Bobbi of Van Buren; a stepdaughter, Pauletta Purvis of Choctaw, OK; a stepson, Gary Don Carney of Rudy; eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and nine step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 23, 2018 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Morrison Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be Derrick Hodges, Carlos Hodges-Mondragon, Matt Holland, Juan Mondragon, Jamie Strickland, and Quinten Brown.
