Dorothy Patterson, age 67, passed away Saturday, December 15 in a local nursing home. She was born October 9, 1945 in Winslow, AR to the late Evelyn and Bertie Barker. She had worked at numerous nursing homes in the area as well as having worked at Rheem Manufacturing in Fort Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Raymond, Norman, Carl, and William Barker, and Verlin Shamblin, sisters Gladys Emberton, Wilma Brown, and Louise Jones.
She is survived by two sisters; Betty Littleton of Pocola, OK, Florence Smith of Van Buren, AR; and a brother, Lee Barker of Muldrow, OK. Dorothy was a second mother to Brandon Brown, Kacey Garrett, Kelly Loyd, and Katie Willis. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, December 20 in Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren. Mrs. Patterson was cremated.
