Floyd Layne Hurst

Floyd Layne Hurst, 72, of Van Buren passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026 in Van Buren. He was born June 19, 1953 in Hot Springs. He was in the United States Marine Corps and retired from Arkansas Oklahoma Gas.

He was preceded in death by his father, F.L. Hurst; and two granddaughters, Emma Joy Hurst and Laurel Claire Specht.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathy Hurst of the home; two daughters, Melissa Hurst of Benton, and Melanie Specht and husband Jim of Haskell, Okla.; a son, Greg Hurst and wife Crystal of Van Buren; his mother, Mary Jean Hurst of Hot Springs; a sister, Gail Eckard of Hot Springs; a brother, Rodney Hurst and wife Sharon of Hot Springs; and six grandchildren, Evelyn, Harrison, Norah Jane, Ava, Ella, and Mason.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 30, 2026 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.

Pallbearers will be Mark Livingston, Eli Livingston, Josh Buchanan, Jeremy Burch, Jamie Burch, and Kendall Hogan. Junior pallbearers will be Harrison Specht and Mason Hurst. Honorary pallbearers will be Explorers Bible Study in Fort Smith.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour, Friday, January 30, 2026 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Hwy, Van Buren.
