Hubert, what can I say all the years we have been together and how God has blessed our lives. God has given us two wonderful sons and grandson.we have taught them to respect us as well as others. You were the love of my life and, I yours. Such a wonderful Husband, Dad, and a great pastor and man of God! You were a humble man and even though you accomplished great things, you never wanted to be in the limelight. I’m going to miss you so very much! Happy that Barry, myself and Brenda, were there praying and patting you then Brenda started singing “Sweet Buelah Land” you left this life to go to your Heavenly Home! Till we meet again!❤️❤️ I Love You!

I could not have known when Bro. Hubert became the Pastor at Oliver Springs that he would become such a huge part of my life. Too many memories to share just one. Too many miles traveled together. Too may laughs shared. I was so blessed to be able to spend the last year with him. Listening to the stories, walking down memory lane, watching Jeopardy! and simply sitting and eating ice cream with him. His influence in my life continues even though he is gone from this physical realm. I will miss his laugh and his words of encouragement. Joanne, Barry, Bryan thank you for sharing your husband and father with me. (And just for the record, I was so wrong to think that he was too short to be a preacher when I first saw him at 12, he was a giant of a man!)

I was really lucky to have had such a good man as a father. He was a rare man, having earned both the CIB and CMB in Korea along with a couple of Bronze Stars. After I was grown, we related more as two old Infantry Soldiers. We laughed about stuff only soldiers would understand. My Dad especially loved Vietnam Veterans, Lol. We laughed and cried about many a story.

My Dad was a Man of God first and foremost. If you asked him he would always respond with "work hard and go to church”. He often told me "you don't go to jail for singing to loud in the church choir." In other words, you don't get in trouble for doing the right thing.

He set an example that I wish I could have lived up to. Bye Dad...you are already missed more than you will ever know.

He loved me when I was right , He chastised me when I was wrong.
He was a two time winner of the Bronze Star. I believe that I am the only man that he ever ordained as a deacon, You should have seen Him and I trying to load an old donkey that I had bought off of him.
I loved you. I will honor your memory.

Words can’t express my heartfelt love that I had for you. You were so proud of your sons, but we were fortunate that you were our dad. You taught us from an early age what was important in life and stressed the importance of working hard. In retrospect, I’ve never met a harder worker than you. I think of our phone calls and I would ask what you had been doing and you would say “ working like a double dog” and you would ask me and I would say “working like a triple dog” and then we would laugh. Your love and dedication to the lord and the church is beyond comprehension. Your 62 years of marriage to mom is to be commended. I know that mom was the love of your life and that is why you held on for so long. I’m going to miss you dad, but I know you are in a far better place with your Heavenly Father. I’m so thankful that when God took you home you were in my arms and I saw you take your last breath. I love you Dad❤️❤️🙏

There are no words to describe this wonderful man. He and his family have been part of my life for over 50 years. He has performed weddings for me and all my siblings. He performed my mom and dad's funeral. He has always been that Pastor, Friend that you could depend on for anything. I remember all the fun we had camping, fishing and water skiing at Lake Ouachita. The Skaggs were just like family to me. He was at the house and cried with me with momma died. He was at the hospital when our dad passed. Bro. Hubert, I love you so much and will look forward to the day when we can reunite in our Heavenly home. May Joanne, Bryan and Barry find comfort in God's love at this time.

Bro. Hubert has been a guiding force in my life for many many years. I know there is rejoicing in Heaven as he walked threw the gates. He treated me as a treasured friend no matter the day or time I saw him. My life has been truly blessed by knowing this giant of a Christian Man. I will mourn the loss of the me that I was before he went home. So thankful for our last visit a week ago when he sang with my sister and I.
