Jeanette Penson Daugherty, 77, of Alma, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at her home. She was born October 23, 1939 in Kibler to the late Kerney and Lillian Akins. She had worked for Tankersley Bros. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Burl Penson; and a sister and brother, Charlotte and Faye Curtis Akins.
She is survived by her husband, Jan Daugherty of the home; a daughter, Michele Welch of Greenwood; a brother, Gerald Akins of Kibler; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 at Kibler Baptist Church with interment to follow at Gill Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be Shane Wilson, Rick Parks, Tim Akins, Steve Akins, Mark Berg, and Loren Vaught. Honorary pallbearers are Ricky Williford, Mark Arnold, Tommy Williams, and James Crabtree.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
