Melvin “Bucky” McCoy, 72, of Mulberry, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014. He was born January 17, 1942 in Mulberry to the late Toy and Ethel McCoy. He was retired from the National Parks Service at Guadalupe State Park in NM. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict, and also served in Turkey. He was a member of the VFW. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Timothy McCoy.
He is survived by a daughter, Connie Basden of Sherwood; a son, David McCoy of Van Buren; two sisters, Lucille Bratton of Mulberry, and Alice Ladd of Malvern; a brother, Chris Bright of Alma; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Samuel Bright, Chadric Waldrop, Bobby Waldrop, James Wayne Nichols, Randy Francis, and Junior Scoggins.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at the Mulberry First Assembly of God Church, with interment to follow at New Cemetery in Mulberry, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
