Richard A. Cardwell, 87, of Fort Smith, passed away Friday, May 19, 2023 in Fort Smith. He was born December 24, 1935 in Fort Smith to the late Loyd and Bessie (Brown) Cardwell. He retired from SW Bell Telephone Co. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunting deer or turkey and fishing were his passion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his sons, Martha Cardwell.
He is survived by his wife, Myra Cardwell of the home; two sons, Mike Cardwell and wife Kelly of Fort Smith, and Allen Cardwell and wife Diana of Fort Smith; a stepdaughter, Dr. Amy Becker and husband Bruce of Corpus Christi; a stepson, Mick Monchamp and wife Camille of Barling; eleven grandchildren, Kristen Graf (Berry), Janie Karrington, Maggie Hall (Logan), Garret and Alyssa Cardwell, Sara Beth, Emma, Luke and Eli Becker, Gavin and Sophie Monchamp and two great-grandchildren, Huxley Hall and James Karrington.
Graveside memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at the Oak Cemetery Pavilion in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
