

Robert Harold Motes, 93, of Van Buren, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2024, at his home. He was born July 14, 1931, in McRae to the late Isaac and Rosie (Fowler) Motes. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force having served during the Vietnam Conflict and retired as a Master Sergeant. He participated in the Children’s Bus Ministry for 40 years for First Baptist Church of Cedarville.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Motes of the home; four daughters, Linda Patrick (Ron) of Grand Prairie, TX, Kay Duffield (Chuck) of Foster, MO, Peggy Thames of Ashburn, VA, and Karen Jones of Van Buren; two sons, Martin Gates II (Judy) of Granbury, TX, and Darrell Lincks of Van Buren; seven grandchildren, Monica Tabor (Keith) of Van Buren, Makae Duffield of Arvada, Jason Patrick (Karis) of Grand Prairie, Brandon Patrick of Grand Prairie, Chantel Gates of Texas, Joey Reeves of Van Buren, and Euell Jones (Lauren) of Van Buren; twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2025, at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Lamproe, Joey Reeves, Euell Jones III, Chuck Duffield, Keith Tabor, and Lee Jones.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
