Vera Sue McDonald

Vera McDonald, 84, of Van Buren, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022 at her home. She was born November 8, 1937 in Fayetteville to the late Willie and Mary (Thompson) Martin. She was a 1955 graduate of Fayetteville High School, and became an LPN in 1974. She was an enterostomal therapist for Sparks, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Van Buren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years whom she married May 11, 1954, Harold Dean McDonald; two daughters, Gaye Lyn Smith Sample, and Sheridan Gail McDonald; and a son, William Arden McDonald.

She is survived by a daughter, Susan Graham of Van Buren; a brother, Thomas Martin and wife Paula of Fayetteville; six grandchildren, Brandon, Richard, Samantha, Heather, Robert, and Thomas; and eleven great-grandchildren, Greyson, James, Ella, Haley, Zackery, Boston, Brogan, Avery, Carter, William, and Elleigh.

Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Gracelawn Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Graham, Richard Smith, Robert McDonald, Thomas Smith, Lee Kelley, and Billy Bolton.

The family will visit with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
