Wendell Lee Smith, 76, of Rudy, died Thursday, April 18, 2013 in his home. He was born November 1, 1936 in Alma, AR to the late Claude and Dorothy Smith. He was the retired owner/operator of a backhoe business. He helped build Crawford County Speedway and spent many happy years racing there. He served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kay Smith, of the home; a daughter, Diana Smith of Rudy; two sons, David and Scott Smith of Rudy; a grandson, Steven Smith of Rudy; a sister, Patsy Clepper of Lampasas, TX; a brother Richard Ray Smith; six other grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2013 at Oliver Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Steven and Matthew Smith, Ricky and Kevin Brown, Brad Hall, and Chris Hamilton.
The family will receive friends at the family home.
