William I. Newton, Jr, 77, of Van Buren, AR, died Friday, November 23, 2012, in a local hospital. He was born July 9, 1935 in Van Buren, AR. In addition to his parents, William I. Newton, Sr. and Willie Caskey Smith, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickey Diane Newton, a brother, Joe Carl Newton, and a grandson, Cory Turner.
He is survived by his wife, Velma of the home; two daughters, Carol Turner of Mulberry, and Landy Taylor of Van Buren; two sons, Carl William Newton of Ozark, and Darrell Jan Newton of Harrison, AR; a sister, Eloise Smith of Van Buren; ten grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren, AR under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be Matt Newton, Cody Turner, Tyler Turner, Heath Turner, Colby Newton, and Raymond Newton. Honorary pallbearers will be T.J. Taylor and George Woodard.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren, AR.
