Chang Va Che

Chang Va Che was born on October 10, 1925, in Cái Bèo, a small village in Northern Vietnam. He met his wife Kin Denh Sau in 1954 and together they created a beautiful family with 3 daughters and 2 sons, all born in Móng Cái. After many years working hard at a pottery workshop in Vietnam, in 1979, him and his wife left their home and landed in Hong Kong where they spent some time at a refugee camp. Here, they worked while waiting for a country to bring them in as permanent citizens. Finally, in June 1980, him and Kin landed as refugees in Vancouver, Canada. Although he did not have a lot when he first moved to Canada, it was not long before he established a successful life here, owning a home, finding many new friendships, and most importantly, seeing his family grow to a total of 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Throughout his life, Chang Va was well known for his wisdom, tenacity, and being steadfast in his beliefs. His tough exterior was balanced with his passion for creative writing, coupled with his deep fondness for Chinese poetry and literature. Even as the years went by, he could still be counted on to proudly recite many beautiful poems and proverbs. But above it all, nothing else made him prouder than seeing his grandchildren thriving and carrying on his incredible legacy.

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. We are proud to have had his strong figure as a symbol of what it means to fight for what you believe in and to always strive to keep learning, no matter the age. Rest easy Chang Va, you led a remarkable 100 years on this Earth.

謝增華 于1925年10月10日出生在越南北部一个名为 蔡博 的小村庄。1954年，他遇见了妻子曹娟英，两人共同建立了一个美满的家庭，育有三女两子，孩子们皆出生于芒街。

在越南的一家陶瓷作坊辛勤工作多年后，1979年，他与妻子离开家乡，抵达香港，并在当地的难民营停留了一段时间。在等待能够接纳他们成为永久居民的国家期间，他们在难民营里努力工作谋生。

最终，在1980年6月，他与曹娟英作为难民抵达加拿大温哥华。虽然初到加拿大时家境清贫，但不久之后，他便在这里建立了成功而安稳的新生活：拥有自己的家园，结识了许多新的朋友，更重要的是，看着家族不断壮大，最终迎来了16位孙辈和11位曾孙辈。

在他的一生中，謝增華以智慧、坚韧与坚持信念而闻名。他坚强的外表下，是对创意写作的热爱，以及对中国诗词与文学的深厚情感。即使随着岁月流逝，他依然能够自豪地背诵许多优美的诗词与箴言。但最让他感到骄傲的，莫过于看到自己的孙辈们茁壮成长，延续着他非凡的精神与传承。

他将被家人和朋友深切怀念。我们为能拥有他这样坚毅的长者而感到无比自豪，他象征着坚持信念、不断学习、永不停止成长的精神。安息吧，謝增華——您在这片大地上度过了非凡的百年人生。

A funeral service will be held at Hamilton Harron Funeral Home, located at 5390 Fraser Street, Vancouver, BC, V5W 2Z1, on November 25, 2025, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.

A graveside service will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 3789 Royal Oak Ave, Burnaby, BC, V5G 4A9, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on the same day.
