Sunflowers

I see you in the sunflowers. I see them everywhere. They stand up tall and shine so bright, just like you did when you were here. So much pain and so much grief, I can’t believe that this is real. And now you’re free, and I must find relief, but pain is all I feel. I felt it was my job to protect you, to help you, and to lift you. But my love was not enough to get you through what you needed to. The demons you faced you fought alone, and for that, I am so sorry. I wish that I had understood, and wish I could have lightened all your darkness. 

I remember only good things. The ones that do define you. The funniest kid I ever knew, the one who’d stand beside you. I dressed you up, you’d sing and dance, anything to make me happy. I used to get so mad at your stupid jokes, they’d make me want to slap you. You lived with a light heart, the biggest in the room -  the pinnacle of kindness. This was commendable, considering our hardships. 

It was you and me against it all, you used to hold my hand. Not only when the lights went dark, but when you knew I’d need a friend. Loving you taught me so much and allowed my heart to feel compassion. Especially when I was struggling to understand my thoughts and my actions. I spent a long time angry, and it made me pull away. I know you wouldn’t want me to have regrets, but this one really hurts today. 

There is light on the horizon though, and this I know is true. One of the last times that we spoke, I told you I loved you. I told you that I was proud of the man you were turning into. I mean that today, and always. I still stand here right beside you. You are and always will be, my baby brother and I’ve got you. 

I’ll always see you in the sunflowers, but I just needed to remind you - that no matter how much time shall pass, “Sister” will always love you.

I love you, Christopher. You were my best friend, and I will miss you until the end of time.


Chris was one of the kindest people I’ve ever encountered and a solid bro we use to hang out all the time then lost contact for a couple years and just recently we had started talking again we were making plans to meet up so he could meet my daughter and wife and we could meet his u we’re taken from us far too soon brother until we meet again rip homie ❤️

Christopher was one of the greatest people I've had the pleasure to meet and get to know. He was gentle when it came to advice giving, which is the kind of friend someone like me who has a mental illness would come to admire. We would stay up late playing video games online and talk about anything and everything.  We would often find the most boring things in life to be funny and we would never shun away from the truth when it came to trying to fix our lives and change our lifestyles. I was proud of Chris when I found out he was doing good in regards to this.

I will miss him dearly and will continue to respect his last advice that he gave me in regards to changing course pertaining to my own  current lifestyle.
