She finally moved out of her body
decided it was no longer worthy

it could not contain her laughter.
could not obey the house-rules of being human.

her spirit, that young and fresh fever,
wanted to call the night her dance club.

wanted to try on new clothes,
stay out later.

now she wears the world.
dresses herself with the tall grass.
blushes her cheeks with red clay.

she laughs and a forest fire awakes.
she laughs and every mountain bows to her sharp thunder.
she laughs and every cicada begins to sing.

Last night, the city was cloaked in snow.

a front traveled from some distant north.

No, I think. 
you've got it all wrong. 

someone must have asked her to dance

Courtney you are so missed and so loved. I feel blessed to have known you and to have shared in the beautiful friendship you had with my daughter.
