Diana Katherine Billy

August 31, 1957 – February 16, 2015

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Diana Katherine Billy we extend our sincere condolences to the Joe / Peters (Lil’ Wat Nation) and Billy / Charlie (Squamish Nation) Families. Following a extraordinary battle with various health issues Diana passed peacefully surrounded by love of her family at Lion’s Gate Hospital. Diana’s grandparents were from Squamish Nation Moses Billy (Williams) and Bertha (nee Charlie) and from Lil’wat Nation Francis Joe and Mary Jane (nee Peters). She is also predeceased by her mother Anna Margaret Billy (nee Joe) and brother Richard Douglas Billy Jr.

Diana is survived and will be dearly missed by her loving father Richard Douglas Billy; brothers Richard and Rod (Bernadine); sisters Barbara Louie (Jim) and Jackie Williams (Henry); children George (Lena), Gordon (Natasha), Victoria (Kalen) and Swo-Wo (Zia); grandchildren Carmen, Lila, Marley, Mary and Oscar; and father of her children Gordon Gabriel Senior and Reid Fox; and loving relatives and dear friends.

Diana shared many good teachings in as she was trained in traditional healing a gift her mother shared with her and in turn she shared with friends and family. She was well known for her commitment to the annual veterans pow wow at Totem Hall and it was important to her we continue to commemorate veterans each year; she also work with families at Squamish Nation as well as the School District.

A Prayer Service will be held at Totem Hall, 1380 Stawamus Road, Squamish, BC on February 19, 2015 (Thursday) at 7:00pm; a Funeral Service on February 20, 2015 (Friday) at 10:00 am. On line condolences may be found at www.dignitymemorial.ca.
