Dorothy Foo (née Eason), aged 86, of Vancouver B.C. passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025. She was born on May 11, 1939 in East London, South Africa to Mr. Lo Tat Choy Eason (羅德才) and Mrs. Ah Silk Mooi Eason (鍾宿珍).
Dorothy was a quiet adventurer who loved to travel, exercise, and meet new people. Family and friends remember her fondly for her quirky sense of humor and willingness to try new things at least once - like aerial yoga, snorkeling, and solo travel. She traveled with her daughter Melissa to South Africa, Taiwan, Vietnam, Germany, England, Hong Kong, Hawaii, and took trips on her own to the Philippines, Bali, and central Taiwan. After her granddaughter Eva was born she made several trips to California. She was a very caring person and always thought of others. In her later years, Dorothy delighted in her daily neighbourhood walks where she would bump into friends while grocery shopping.
Dorothy had an active and varied career as an administrative professional, supervision aide at her children’s elementary school, and sales assistant at an investment bank. After retirement she was an active volunteer every year at the 411 Seniors Centre Society Income Tax Clinic during income tax season.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Lawrence, son Lowell (Nancy), daughter Melissa, and her granddaughter Eva Lucia; also sister Hilary Mason and brother Graham Eason.
A viewing session will be held for Dorothy on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Vancouver Memorial Services, 5505 Fraser Street, Vancouver, B.C.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VGH UBC Women’s Heart Health at https://vghfoundation.ca/impact_areas/womens-heart-health/.
Dorothy will be remembered for her creativity, kindness, willingness to help others, and her warm smile.
