It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eileen “Tootsie” Carefoot on June 11, 2024. Born on March 21, 1936, in Rabbit Lake, Saskatchewan, she lived a rich and fulfilling life for 88 years.

Eileen was the beloved wife of Foster Carefoot and the cherished mother of Kelly (Marion), Danny, Diane (Scott), Art (Geraldine), and Murray (Meng). She was predeceased by her husband, Foster, their son, Danny and grandson Jake. She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories treasured by her grandchildren—Natalie (Dermot), Brady, Jeffrey, Nikkole (Cole), Rachel, Nate, Tommy and Carolyn (Chris) —as well as her great-grandchildren Leo, Violet, Faelan and Gavin.

A resident of Steveston for over 80 years, Eileen was truly the heart of the village. Her daily walks were a highlight, as she would stop to chat with everyone she met, sharing her warmth and stories. Her dedication to the community was evident in her many years of volunteer work with the Gulf of Georgia Cannery and the Steveston Post Office.

She will be dearly missed by her family and the many friends she made throughout her life. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Rest in peace, Tootsie. Your legacy of love and community will never be forgotten.

From your loving family.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 5:00pm - 7:30pm at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery Museum, 12138 Fourth Avenue, Richmond, B.C. Light snacks, tea and coffee will be served.
