In Loving Memory of Evangelia Lekakis
March 28, 1954 – March 23, 2026
With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Evangelia “Angela” Lekakis, born in Aggelona, Greece on March 28, 1954, to Christos and Eirini Kapeleris. The youngest of four siblings— she was the little sister to Giannis, Kiriakos, and Peter. Angela grew up surrounded by family, tradition, and the values that shaped her generous spirit.
Trained as a seamstress in Greece, Angela carried her creativity and skill throughout her life. In 1974, she married the love of her life, Nicolas, in Aggelona, Greece. Together they began their lifelong partnership, moving to Vancouver to build a home, a family, and a life rooted in love, hard work, and community.
Angela was a devoted mother to John (Brandy) and Chris, always present with a smile, a warm embrace, and a meal ready to share. Her kitchen was her love language—no one ever left hungry, and second helpings were provided whether you wanted them or not. She poured her heart into caring for others, volunteering her time, and brightening every room she entered.
Her greatest joy was her grandchildren: Lucas, Adalia, Matteo, Nicolas, Niko, and Markos. They were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Angela loved her family deeply—especially sisters-in-law Calliope, Eleni, Nota, and Demetra. She loved her cousins, her nieces, nephews, her friends, her community, and every gathering that brought people together. She treasured her Hudson Bay shopping trips with “the girls”, family trips, and hosting anyone who walked through her door. Her warmth was effortless, her kindness constant.
In her later years, Angela faced Alzheimer’s with the same quiet strength she carried throughout her life. Though the illness took many of her memories, it never dimmed the love and care people who knew her had experienced.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Windermere Care Centre for the compassionate care they provided Angela over the past eight years.
Angela leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
