It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Glen Fat Ping Lum, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and great-uncle. Glen left us far too soon and will be deeply missed by his loving mother, two brothers, four sisters, eight nephews, ten nieces, three great-nephews, two great-nieces, and many extended family members and friends.
Glen was born in Sun Wui, Gongdong, China and immigrated to Vancouver, British Columbia in 1976 at the age of 10 with his parents and siblings. As the youngest son of seven children, he enjoyed a carefree childhood and carried that warmth and joy throughout his life.
He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, hunting, fishing, and playing hockey, but his greatest passion was badminton. Glen excelled in the sport, winning numerous trophies and later becoming a coach.
Known for his kindness, generosity, and humility, Glen was always ready to help others. He supported his family in many ways, including helping at the family grocery store and later working alongside his brother to help build AE Electronics Corp. from its beginnings in a garage into a successful company.
Glen was a constant and caring presence in the lives of his family and friends. He especially loved spending time with his nieces and nephews; drinking bubble tea, watching movies, playing at the arcade, and going out to eat hot pot.
Glen’s compassionate spirit touched everyone he met. He will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he brightened.
May he rest in peace.
