It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of our only child, Hayden. He was a big, strong, capable, loyal, lovable, and sometimes goofy young man with a strong sense of what's right and a willingness to help anyone in need. He was killed in a motor vehicle crash along with the love of his life Madeline (Maddy) Stroup. They met 8 months ago and soon fell deeply in love, the happiness they shared was incredible and contagious. Hayden's best friend Tyrell Gait survived the crash but sustained multiple injuries. Hayden is survived by his parents Paul and Ariel; his grandparents Dwaine and Sylvia; his Uncle Perry, Peter and Reed; his Aunt Kaz and Deanna and his cousins Eric and Hanna. He will also be remembered by his many friends. Hayden was following in his father's footsteps at Finning and had just completed his Heavy Duty Mechanic's apprenticeship achieving Journeyman status July 17, 2019. He started his career with Finning by entering the "Think Big" program in October 2015. He made many friends along the way and had many great experiences. Hayden was born on the North Shore at Lion's Gate Hospital. He went to school at Blueridge Elementary and Windsor Secondary. He played hockey and other sports. He spent his summers with family and friends and his dog Hercules at Deep Cove Yacht Club's Iron Bay Outstation and eventually became a member himself. He was a mountain biker when he was younger and knew the Mount Seymour Trails like the back of his hand. He graduated to off-road motorcycles joining the Squamish Dirt Bike Association and Blue Mountain Motorcycle Club. He participated in trail building and maintenance and many races throughout the province. His black Dodge Dakota transported many of his friends and could often be found 4X4-ing near Squamish and throughout the rest of BC. Everywhere Hayden went he created strong and lasting friendships. Those who had the opportunity to know Hayden count themselves as being lucky. We will all hold his memory deep within our hearts. We are comforted knowing that Hayden and Maddy will be together forever.
Hayden’s Celebration of Life will be held at the Pipe Shop in North Vancouver on Thursday September 12, 2019 from 11am -12 pm and followed by reception from 12- 2 pm.
