She was born on Oct 20, 1927 in Nowy Dwor, Poland to Adolf and Maria Bartel. She came to Canada after the war and settled in Virgil, Ontario along with her brother Max, sister, Eleanor and mother. In the 60's, she moved to Vancouver, BC, and worked as a nurses aid until she retired at age 55.
She was an active member of Fairview Presbyterian Church and happily greeted newcomers to the church community. She spent many happy years at Broadway Pentecostal Lodge, where she was well cared for, especially during her final days.
She was preceded in death by her brothers; Andreas and Max, and sister Eleanor.
She will be missed by her niece, Ruth and her 3 nephews; Dietrich, Erich and Phil.
A "meet and greet" will be held for a "nibble and a nosh" with her family at Fairview Presbyterian Church at 2725 Fir St. on Friday afternoon, April 12th at 2:30 - 4:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Broadway Pentecostal Lodge @ 1377 Lamey's Mill Rd. would be appreciated.
