James Thomas Yeates

YEATES James Thomas - Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving children at Point Grey Private Hospital in Vancouver at the age of 84 on Saturday June 13, 2020. Born on November 1st, 1935 in Niagara Falls , Jim was the son of the late Thomas Yeates and Jennie Yeates (Rootes). He will be greatly missed by his children Lee [Leanne] Yeates and Brett Yeates (Leigh Cormier), as well as his grandchildren Addie Campbell, and Louis Yeates. Jim joins his wife Valarie Yeates (Greensides), and sister Barbara Schug in peace.Jim was foremost a loving husband and devoted father. He enjoyed a 43 year long career as a train conductor with CN Rail and retired with many friends and great stories. Jim was an ardent golfer and legendary sport fisherman. It can be said with certainty; fish trembled at the sound of his name. A celebration of his life will take place in the Niagara region, when gatherings are more safely possible, in consideration of the current pandemic. Interment will take place at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, Jim’s children suggest that memorial gifts could be made in his honour to The Hamilton General Hospital Foundation.
