

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend Janet Evelyn Gnissios (nee Morris) on Monday April 25, 2022.Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband Nicolas in 2016.Mom is lovingly remembered by her four children Patricia (Dean), Todd, Nota (Mark), Gelly (Stephanie), and her four adored grandchildren, Nicole, Marie, Nicolas and Evangeline, and by family and friends near and far.
Mom was born in Wakefield England in 1939 and lived her teenage years in Wales. She came to Vancouver Canada in 1959, and met her soul mate Nicolas when they were both working together at the Hotel Vancouver. They were married on October 14, 1961 and shared a beautiful and adventurous life together. Mom was an avid quilter and a devoted member of the Saint George’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral Philoptohos and the Daughters of Penelope. Her faith was very important to her. Mom had such a profound impact on everyone she met. Her laughter, her kindness and her giving spirit will never be forgotten and will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 12:00 pm at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 4500 Arbutus Street, Vancouver. Father’s Nikolaos Sideras, Timoleon Prattas and Dorotheos Tryfonopoulos officiating. Burial to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Burnaby, BC.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. George’s Greek Orthodox Philoptohos or the Hastings Mill Museum.
