Died July 23, 2019 in peace, at home, surrounded by family and friends.
Jackie was a kind and generous person who looked through facades to connect with the people behind them. She loved to converse but couldn’t stand “small talk”.
Jackie was a Dare Devil- she lived her life large in all the best ways.
Regardless of her official role (Waitress/Nurse’s Aide/Student/Social worker/Book Keeper/Mother/Volunteer/Person with a Handicap…) she lived her life with intense determination. Heedless of trends, guided instead by her faith in principles of unequivocal equality and justice: She boycotted, recycled, and was never afraid to step forward to speak out to defend someone or to say what she believed in.
Jackie was a feminist, pro- choice, humanitarian, and a proud LGTBQ2+ member and advocate before there were labels for these ways of thinking.
Jackie never lost her sense of humor or loving generosity – taking care of her daughter and granddaughters right to her end.
As Jackie left her body behind, the wind gusted and she flew like a bird above and around us, on her way to dance in the waves at her Favourite place: Spanish Banks beach.
