Dear Joey, though we never had a chance to hang out during high school, the various occasions in 2014 that got us together brought me closer to you. I will always admire your charisma, recall that evening when you cooked for us (excellent pea soup!), and that afternoon where I got you beer at dragon boat. You lived out the best and bravest part of the people in your circle and left us many remarkable moments. Not only will we have pictures/videos of you to help us catch up on your adventurous life, your presence will forever be in our hearts through loving memories.

I miss you. You were a great friend, and you will always be a great friend. We talked almost every day since I knew you and now there is a void, but I try to fill it with positive memories and thoughts of our time together over the years.  We discussed everything, there was no topic we could not discuss and you always had a great perspective on life. You were a thinker, a comedian, adventurous, generous and kind. You're always in my thoughts. Forever grateful for your friendship.  ~Luke

Joey, we met in the first year of high school and fast became good friends throughout those formative years. We spent many lunch times together, playing sports, cards, video games at your house or just hanging out like teenagers do. I will never forget those long summer bike rides and evenings at the park we had growing up and the Geotrip to Alberta. 

Although we regretablly drifted apart after high school as it often happens in life, you have made an indelible mark on me. Your wit, generosity and willingness to be a contrarian will be missed. The world is lesser without you in it and you were taken from us too soon. Goodbye my old friend. Thanks for all the memories. My deepest condolences to your family.

We met Joey Lowe at Wednesday night Badminton and became close friends with him and some of his other good friends. Some of the things and memories that come to mind when we think of him and the times we spent together are: His smile, dim sum, the Nicola Valley, all his wonderful friends that are now our wonderful friends, the Lake Street Dive Concert at the Commodore, The Corn Maze, looking for a bicycle helmet, dim sum, discovering jazz, walks on the sea wall, hiking, driving to Richmond for fried chicken, going to movies, dinner parties and pot lucks, and of course dim sum!
Joey your laugh, your smile, your wit, your caring, kindness and friendship was your gift to all of us....Love you, Steve and Joey

RIP dear Joey. Although we were not close friends and knew each other mainly via mutual friends, you struck me as a wonderful person who brightens the day of those who are around you. Will miss you.

I only knew him briefly before he passed. He was a caring and friendly individual to all he enountered. A beautiful person on the inside and out.

I only wish I could have spent more time with him; I know I would not have been disappointed.

Joey, you were only with us a short time but you touched us all. They say only the good die young because they are needed in heaven. At least in solace, I know you will watch down and look after the rest of us.

That is no consolation for not being able to say goodbye properly.

Thank you for your smile and humour; I remember it fondly and will try not to be sad because I believe you want us to be happy you are no longer in pain.

Joey was an incredibly genuine, easygoing and compassionate person. He's the kind of person everyone wanted to have as a friend, and the kind of man everyone aspired to be. Words cannot describe how grateful I am to have met Joey and even though our time together was short, I'll always cherish them as some of my fondest memories. In times of loss, I am reminded of a quote from Dr. Suess:

"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."
