Doug left us suddenly and unexpectedly. He was an active Lion, serving as past President of the Howe Sound Lions, organizer of the Lion's club Christmas Tree sales at Ambleside Park, and helped out at the Lion's Easter Egg hunt. At Libby Lodge Doug operated Bingo nights, was host for annual Christmas dinners and had many close friends.
Doug's roots were in Ontario, particularly in Toronto and around Niagara On The Lake. He was a sports enthusiast and his love of music ranged from doo-wop to opera. He had an incredible memory for people, history and events. He travelled extensively, and had a wealth of stories to tell about the people he met. He loved to chat with people and seemed to know almost everyone in Horseshoe Bay.
