With sadness we share the news of the passing of John Thanas. Brother, father, uncle, grandfather and friend. From humble beginnings in a small village in Greece, John sought out a new life. He sailed the seas and jumped ship in North Vancouver’s sulphur ports deciding that Vancouver would be where he would make his life. He met the love of his life, had a family, and supported them through his long standing career as a painter. John lived a full and blessed life. He is predeceased by his wife Zoi and his little sister Maria. Survived by his older sister Marina, twin sister Angela, younger brother George, his two sons, Peter (Vincenza) and Bill (Noriko), and his four grandchildren (Apollo, Zoi, Athina and Clio). He will be remembered for his great garden, long chats, wise words and delicious wine. Memory eternal to baba, theio, papou and simply John.
Funeral will be at 11am on November 26th at St. Nicholas and Dimitrios Church on Boundary.
