We are heartbroken to share that Jordan Kyle Buck (he loved his name) departed from ou rlives far too soon on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at home, as per his wishes, and surrounded by the love and warmth of all his family.
Born, as per a multi-generational tradition, at St. Paul's Hospital Vancouver, BC. He attended General Wolfe Elementary School (also third generation) and Eric Hamber Secondary School, both from which he created a host of life-long and close friendships. Jordan's proficiency with numbers from an early age brought him into the accounting industry starting with banking, then as a comptroller with a Pharmaceutical company and finally in the finance department of Nestle Co. West Coast Division where he worked diligently even after his fatal diagnosis. His career was marked by integrity, devotion and hard work. With a strong work ethic, he took pride in a job well done and the well earned respect of co-workers and management.
Cancer. After the year beginning with unexplained fierce pain; after celebrating their 30 year wedding anniversary in February; after the detailed medical imaging and testing, came the tragic and fatal diagnosis on Wednesday, April 17. 2024. Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer - an insidious disease - undeserved, uncaring, unrelenting.
In the final seven months of his life, Jordan portrayed shock, courage, bravery and quiet sadness. He fought a very strong-willed and valiant battle, going through hell to get to heaven. No mercy shown from beginning to end.
Jordan was one of the kindest individuals that we knew. He exemplified the true meaning of charity whether it be a bird, animal or a downtrodden street person. Jordan was a tall guy but he stood even taller every time he stooped to offer one of the down-fallen a helping handout. There was always something in his car as an offering be it a bird, beast or man. Always a handout to be given (just in case) enroute to a Canucks home game.
The five-plus decades we got with Jordan weren't enough - we didn't get enough time with him but we will cherish our memories of him forever. That said, we are grateful that he is finally free of pain and suffering and all anxieties and has been reunited with those he gently loved who went before him - Maternal grandparents Kath (Mama) and Ed (before age 1) Johnson; Paternal Grandparents - Mary and Jack Buck (Nana and Poppa); In-laws Sharon and Dean Borgstad; Feline friend, Milo. Surviving him, Jordan will be deeply missed, always cherished and forever remembered by Pamela, his high school sweetheart and wife of 30 years; their two daughters Kaitlin and Sydney (Ryan); the three treasures in his life - grandchildren Penelope (8), Leo (5), and Reese (3). A very close-knit family, also left to mourn are his devastated parents Linda and Gary Buck; his two older brothers Jeffrey (Palm Springs, CA) and Jason (Hilarie); Brother-in-Law Ervine and Chris (Christine); his maternal (and Canucks buddies) Aunt Sue and Uncle Johnny Morita and family; eight very broken-hearted nieces and Nephew; his fur baby, Mia. Finally as well, the many, many attending and close friends with whom he gave and received more love than ever.
Sadly, he is gone. Happily, we were there as he concluded his journey. Hands held and feels shared. Tearful but thankful for the time we had together. Thankful for the gift of you. While he has left us now, we can imagine him kneeling down feeding a flock of timid birds or scampering squirrels. We will miss him and love him to the end of our time. Jordan, please give a hug to all those around you that we wish we could hold in our arms just one more time. Relax now, no more anxieties. We love you more than you'll ever know. Until we meet again, God bless.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and caregivers who provided exceptional support and care during Jordan's final months, and days and hours. The family also wishes to acknowledge with deep gratitude, the love, concern, and kindness shared by so many throughout our circle. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the BC SPCA, or the Critter Care Wildlife Society in Jordan's memory. It was Jordan's request - it would be appreciated and Jordan will be smiling.
With love, your proud Dad
A celebration of Jordan's life will be held at a later date sometime early in 2025.
