Karen Lieffering passed away peacefully on March 31st, 2024 at Delta Hospital in Ladner B.C. She was 95 years old. Born in Bremen, Germany on August 18, 1928. She immigrated to Canada in 1953 to become a nanny for a prominent family in the British Properties.
Karen met and married John Lieffering (predeceased 2019) in 1954 in Vancouver. They made their first home in English Bay before moving to Kerrisdale, eventually settling with their young family in Richmond in 1964 where they resided for 54 years.
Together, Karen and John traveled to many destinations all over the world but Karen's favorite place was at home with her family on Nanika Crescent.
Karen worked at the Haida Buffet at The Bay in Richmond before retiring to become a full-time Nana. She loved to ride her bicycle around Richmond well into her 80s; it was her favorite mode of transportation.
Karen moved to Tsawwassen in 2019 and lived at Saint David's House until her passing.
She was a caring wife, Mother of John, Monica, Michael, and David, and loving Grandmother as well as Great Grandmother.
Karen touched many lives and is remembered for her cheerful and positive disposition. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Thank you to the staff of Delta Hospital for all their care and compassion.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
