Lilly Mitchell

Beloved mother and grandmother Lillian Mitchell passed away on August 14th, 2021 at the age of 84 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born Lillian Rudiashy in 1936, she was the youngest of Catherine and Safron Rudiashy’s eight children. Alongside her elder siblings, Charlie, Anne, Lydia, Nettie, John, Sonia, and Tina, Lilly was raised in the Okanagan on a farm in Swan Lake, BC and then in Vernon, BC where she attended school. She reminisced about running through the fields and orchards with her friends and siblings.

After working in both Georgetown and Toronto, ON, Lilly returned to BC, eventually settling in Vancouver where she raised her two daughters, Cathy and Sandra. Lilly was also a caring grandmother to three grandchildren, Ellie, Kyle, and Suzanne, in whose raising she was highly involved. Alongside her dear husband Michael, she lived her life as a devoted Christian, committed to the Lord and to her prayer. Lilly will be remembered for her love of beauty and nature, for her powerful spirit, and for her kind heart.
