QUILICI, Loris passed away peacefully at age 74 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He leaves his devoted wife of 51 years, Anna, and his children, Laura (Scott) and Michelle (Mark). He was cherished “nonno” to Lola and friend to many.
Loris immigrated to Canada from Italy at age 19 in 1956. He met and married Anna shortly after settling in Vancouver. Together, Anna and Loris enjoyed a full life, centered on building their family and making time for travel including annual vacations to Cabo San Lucas, where they maintained a home and a wide circle of friends.
Enjoying good food and wine was a favourite pastime for Loris. Growing and sourcing the freshest ingredients, thoughtfully preparing a delicious meal and finally sitting down to share it with his friends and family brought him great joy. Those of us lucky enough to be the beneficiaries of his culinary passion will remember fondly our many meals together.
In his retirement, Loris became an avid gardener and was an enthusiastic member of the Baraga community garden. He was well known for dispensing timely gardening advice and sharing his knowledge widely.
Mostly, Loris took great pleasure in his family – he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. We will all sorely miss him.
A memorial service and reception will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel, 1835 East Hastings Street, Vancouver. Cremation internment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. We wish to recognize the assistance of the many health care professionals who cared for Loris during his four-year battle with cancer. The staff at St. James’ Cottage Hospice, in particular, was instrumental in providing a place of gentle departure for him. In lieu of flowers, a donation to St. James’ Cottage Hospice would be appreciated. Please use link provided below. https://www.canadahelps.org/DonationDetails.aspx?cookieCheck=true
