It is with the deepest sadness to announce the passing of Manuel Ferreira Vela. He was born on April 8, 1932 in the small town of Oliveira Do Bairro, Portugal. He immigrated to Canada in 1955 and was known for his hard work, love of the outdoors, and his dedication to his family. Manuel passed away peacefully at 8:30 a.m., at Banfield Pavilion, Vancouver, B.C. on July 1, 2016. Many thanks and gratitude to the wonderful and caring staff at Banfield Pavilion that helped ease his journey. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, his two sons, daughter-in-law, and four grandchildren.
His Memorial service will take place at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home, located at 306 East 11th Avenue in Vancouver, on Saturday, July 9, at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Alzheimer Society of B.C. or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
