When Peter was thirteen years old, he moved to the city of Chalkida to continue his
education, receiving a high school diploma in a specialized mechanical program from
Chalkis Technical School. During those years, he also worked a part time job in order
to sustain himself.
After graduation, upon his father’s wishes, Peter reluctantly immigrated to Canada,
arriving in 1963. He joined his eldest brother John in Milton, Ontario, working on a
mushroom farm. His life’s journey continued across Canada, including stops in,
Regina, Lake Louise, Banff, Golden, Fraser Lake, Campbell River, Ladysmith, Port
Hardy and Port Alice. Vancouver became his permanent home in 1967. Here he
worked in the restaurant industry until the family opened their first enterprise ‘Olympia
Pizza’, which was later to become their family trademark. In the mid 70’s, the business
expanded with the opening of Luv-a-Fair, becoming one of their many successful
nightclub ventures.
The Hellenic community was important to Peter, he served as a member of the church
board at St. George’s, Roumelioton Association of B.C., Evioton Association of B.C. as
well as being president of the Burnaby chapter of Ahepa.
Also important, were athletics, soccer was Peter’s biggest passion. As an involved
member of the Greek Olympics soccer team, many will remember him as a strong
centre-back. One highlight includes a goal he scored from the centre line, leading to a
win! Other matches to be noted were between their rival teams, the Vancouver
Firefighters and the Italian soccer club, those games were always entertaining and
unforgettable! Besides soccer, he was an avid hockey fan. He enjoyed watching the
games at home with his cousin in law John Koulouris.
His love of Greek music naturally led him to promote famous Greek artists bringing in
acts Marinella, Alexiou, Papazouglou, Plourtachos, Antique, Garbi and the Dionysiou
brothers. These evenings were always full of kefi!
In 1971, Peter met his future wife Vicky and after their first three hour coffee date at
Denny’s she returned home and told her cousins “I just met the man I am going to
marry”. True to Vicky style, she did!
On May 20th 1973, Peter and Vicky were married. Five years later, they were blessed
with their first child a daughter Stacy (Anastasia), followed by their son Lee (Basilios
Jonathan) a year and a half later. Peter took such pride in his children and his love for
his family was always unconditional. He was also fortunate to welcome grandchildren
into his life. They truly were a source of happiness, brightening up his whole world.
From humble beginnings, Peter was his own man, he chose the life he wanted and how
to live it. Never one to be judgemental, he touched many peoples lives as he had the
amazing talent of making everyone feel special. This was his way and those who loved
him were fortunate to have shared a lifetime of unforgettable memories.
Peter, the forever gentleman, leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion and
great generosity. He will eternally be the loving husband, father, grandfather, brother,
brother in law, uncle, godfather, friend and koubaro.

A flash of memories in our heart, when did they begin, when did they start?
You are the warmth and familiar face, a funny word, a kind embrace.
I will never forget the moments shared, the party times, the laughter together.
The times on Granville, the crazy fun, the king of downtown, there was only one.
Thank you for sharing that world with me, times of youth, wild and free.
You are always a part of my heart, a flash of memories, when did they start?
I hope you know how much we loved you.
See you again instead of adio, thank you for being my amazing Thio.
