It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, Phyllis Lee, after a nearly year long battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully with family by her side on July 17th at the age of 75. Phyllis was born in Guangzhou, China on October 25th, 1945. She later moved to Hong Kong with her family, then immigrated to Canada in 1964, first arriving in Dawson Creek. The following year, the family moved to Vancouver, where she would later meet and marry Lin Dart Lee. Phyllis was a grocery store owner, seamstress, and held other jobs while raising her three daughters. After retirement, she spent many hours cooking, knitting, and sewing, while looking after her grandchildren. She loved going on cruise vacations with her family and visiting her younger sister in L.A. once a year. She also enjoyed fruit and vegetable gardening, especially growing figs, meeting up with friends over coffee on Saturday mornings at the mall or talking with them on the phone. Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Rosanne (Kyle), Marianne (Eddie), and Angela (Ken), grandchildren Alex, Lauren, Jonah, Nicholas, and Elizabeth, siblings Vicky (Victor), Ken (Mei), and Florence (Wayne), and father, Dean You Fong. She is predeceased by her mother, May Boy King Fong. Her generosity and kindness will be greatly missed by all.
