Ramona Dawn MacBean
‘Mona’
Sunrise: April 26, 1950 – Sunset: September 24, 2025
It is with deep sadness we share the passing of our dear elder Ramona Dawn MacBean on September 24, 2025. She was most commonly known by Mona. She was born at Lions Gate Hospital on April 26, 1950, to her late parents May Winnifred (nee: Newman) and Ambrose ‘Ray’ Raymond Baker. She grew up on Eslha7án̓ (Mission IR # 1) with her sibling tribe. She attended St. Paul’s Indian Day School, and St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School. She went to Victoria for a week and met the love of her life, Edward MacBean. They had 50 wonderful years together. Mona worked at the Best Western in Victoria, BC and the Sandman in Abbotsford until her retirement at the age of 68. She had a great sense of humour, her smile was contagious, and she had a great Aunty laugh. She lit up any room when she entered. She was always cheerful and had something nice to say. Mona was most proud of her kids and grand-children, they were the highlight of her life!
Mona will be dearly missed by her children: Debra Webber, Tara Scheirer, Philip MacBean; grandchildren Burke Scheirer, Presten Scheirer, Mathew Webber; siblings Harry Baker, Laura Schwoob, Hughie Baker(Kelly), Gary Brian Baker; and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.
