With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Rey/Rene Lopez. He died peacefully surrounded by his family.
Rey was born and raised in the Philippines and immigrated to Vancouver with his family in 1977. He worked for Sears Department store and then at Burnaby Hospital before retiring. He enjoyed working at the hospital and made many friends there.
Rey loved being with his family both here in Vancouver and in the Philippines. He enjoyed working in his garden and had many fruit trees growing in the yard including blackberries! He loved to chat with people and would easily strike up a conversation with people, particularly “fellow Filipinos”.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Mila, his children Reyla (Ray), Reymie (Dan), Lareylie (Aaron), Rey & Joey (Angie), his grandchildren (Aaron (Kyra), Naomi, Brandan, Nathan, Angelo & Zciljian), his sisters (Luming, Nita & Marietta), his nieces and nephews, and extended family both in Vancouver and in the Philippines.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 29 from 2-4 pm at Mountain View Cemetery Celebration Hall, 5455 Fraser Street, Vancouver.
